The Construction of Le Mercure (1730)

Welcome to the 1:36 construction of Napoleon's merchant vessel "Le Mercure" (1730).

This website will follow the construction of the model in a step-by-step fashion using numerous photographs, explanations and video clips. For any serious ship modeller it will be an indispensible source of information on all stages of construction.

I am a member of the St Petersburg guild of ship modellers and a student of Dr Mikhail Bezverkhniy who was the World Champion after constructing L'Ambiteux and receiving a perfect score (100/100) from all judges in the competition. To see some photos of work undertaken by members of our guild please click here or on the GALLERY link on the left.

If you wish to leave feedback or ask any questions please feel free to do so at the Model Ship World forum where I have setup a topic specifically devoted to this construction. Please click here to be taken directly to that topic on the forum.

Please note:

1. The construction will sequentially follow the Sections from top to bottom through the Main Menu on the left starting from Preliminaries. As the construction will take a number of years please allow time for updates.

2. To access the sub-sections under the Main Menu items on the left you need to actually click on the menu item rather than just hover over it.
